Upcoming Nike SB Dunk High Quickstrikes: “Cheech and Chong” & “Reign in Blood”
In the past few days, the designs for two of the most anticipated SB Dunk Highs of 2011 have been revealed:
Todd Bratrud x Nike SB Dunk High “Cheech and Chong”
I’m sure you all remember last year’s killer quickstrike in honor of 4/20, National Marijuana Day: the “Skunk” SB Dunk High. For this year, Todd Bratrud, who created the “Skunk” colorway as well as a few other colorways of the SB Dunk High, looks to follow up his sellout with one of the most creative SB Dunk Highs I have ever seen. Behold, the “Cheech and Chong.” This shoe is based off of the movie “Up in Smoke,” in which comedians Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong play the role of avid “hippies” with some radical headgear. This headgear, a red bandana of Chong’s and a red ski cap of Cheech’s, is represented on the heel of each shoe. Another nice feature of the shoe, is that as the white canvas upper of it sheds off, a nice green suede is revealed under the canvas. Anyways, look for the “Cheech and Chong” SB Dunk High to hit Nike SB retailers in limited quantities (there is a rumor that around only 1000 pairs of these are coming out!) around April 20th (Picture via N-SB).
Brooklyn Projects x Nike SB Dunk High “Reign in Blood”
Brooklyn Projects, one of California’s well-known skate shops, has collaborated with Nike SB on a Dunk before. However, let’s just say that this upcoming one is for the better. The owner of the store, Dom DeLuca, who has history in the metal (music) industry, created the pictured colorway of the SB Dunk High with the Slayer’s famous “Reign in Blood” album in mind. The dark color of the album blends well with the high-quality leather, suede, and denim used on the sneaker. Apparently, only 666 pairs of the “Reign in Blood” SB Dunk High will hit SB retailers in June, so keep up with Sole Camp for news on that (Picture via SneakerNews).
