Did I or did I not say soon? Earlier today, the Kith blog was updated with release information on Ronnie Fieg’s latest Asics collaboration, the “Rose Gold” GT-II. This pinkish gold, cinder, and blue GT-II will be released on Kith’s online store and at the Kith NYC and Brooklyn location at 11 am on Friday, March 2, for a price of $130. Simple as that. Last year, the first Saturday of March was a heavy-volume day for Nike Basketball, with a trio of LeBron 8 V2s and four Zoom Kobe VIs dropping on that one day. Early March 2012 is looking to be almost as hectic for Nike Basketball as it was last year. The main attractions? These three LeBron 9s. There is the “Dunkman” colorway, which looks closer to the very popular “Dunkman” Air Max LeBron VII colorway as opposed to other versions. There is the “Bright Mango” LeBron 9, for those who like the combination of a shiny silver base and a bright accent. Then, there is the “Griffey” LeBron 9, which, with its Green Abyss colorway and Swingman-like logo on the back, pays tribute to Ken Griffey Jr., one of Nike’s most popular athletes of all-time. Once again, Nike will release three LeBron signature colorways on the same day, as all three of the featured colorways drop this Friday, March 2. Sometimes, sneaker blogs post new images of upcoming sneaker releases on a constant basis. Yes, I posted about the “Rose Gold” GT-II yesterday. However, this post is for accuracy. Photo shoots are photo shoots, and therefore, the results will be a bit tailored (no disrespect whatsoever, but it is a fact). The image of Ronnie Fieg’s latest GT-II above, provided by easyotabor on Instagram, depicts how the Rose Gold shade would look on the pigskin upper and the laces more realistically. Trust me when I say that you will not see a post about the “Rose Gold” GT-II tomorrow. However, this Ronnie Fieg x Asics sneaker should be making headlines soon.

No, the Nike conglomerate is not done yet. Tomorrow, Jordan Brand will release one of the more anticipated colorways of the most recent Air Jordan signature. The “Year of the Dragon” Air Jordan 2012, like the other “Year of the Dragon” sneakers, did not have a release date at first. However, now it comes in the form of an aftershock after the craze that was today’s “Galaxy” Nike release. If you’re gunning for a pair of the Azure Dragon-inspired “Year of the Dragon” 2012s, be ready to fly through, over, or around the traffic tonight on the web or tomorrow morning at select Jordan Brand retailers.

Over a month ago, we all got a first good look at the “Rose Gold” GT-II by way of Theophilus London. Now, designer Ronnie Fieg himself has given the world a closer look at his first Asics release of 2012. With a pink suede upper, grey Asics logo and outsole, and baby blue accents all around, this GT-II is ready for the summer sun. Thankfully, you should not have to wait until then for the sneaker, as Fieg has previously stated that the sneaker will come out soon.

Tommorow is nothing short of an earth-shattering day for sneakerheads. The three Nike Basketball All-Star Game signatures are releasing tomorrow, but they are certainly not taking up the majority of the spotlight. Practically all pairs have been accounted for already, but nonetheless, madness might ensue tomorrow when what some people are calling the most hyped sneaker ever drops in limited numbers. Yes, I am talking about the “Galaxy” Air Foamposite One. If you have your pair on lock, congratulations. If not, there are some online retailers releasing the sneaker, like JimmyJazz and Caliroots. Whether the “Galaxy” Foamposite One interests you or not, I think we can all agree that tomorrow, February 24, might have to go in sneaker history record books. (Picture via Nice Kicks)

Store Report: Mr R Sports

When I was in Miami, back in August 2010, I posted on the blog about some of the cool sneaker stores I visited while I was down there. I recently took another trip there, earlier in February, and I want to provide a deep look at two different shops I went to in Miami this time around:

Mr R Sports

Mr R Sports

Mr R Sports

In its 40-year existence, Mr R Sports has made itself a South Beach footwear industry staple with its wide variety of product and great customer service. The store carries shoes from Nike (Sportswear, Basketball & Running), adidas Originals, Converse, New Balance, Jordan, Reebok, Lacoste and even more. And because Mr R carries so many brands, you would expect them to have a relatively small stock of each one, right? Wrong. Each brand’s footwear is placed on its own wall with a nice display that’s also based on the brand. For example, the shop has all of its Nike Sportswear shoes on a wooden wall, like how the boxes that Nike Sportswear sneaker come in have the same color as wood. Also, the guys that work at Mr R Sports are passionate about what they do too. Clyde Edwards (aka SneakerBox Clyde), Mr R’s creative director for quite some time now, has brought Mr R into the internet’s spotlight with cool shirt designs and crisp product shots. He even came out from the back of the store to talk with me for a bit despite being busy with things like those and a million others I’m sure. And while I was at Mr R Sports this time around, I even got the chance to meet Mr R himself, who, despite being old, was hard at work unpacking and setting up new arrangements in his store. He was very kind, and even complemented my footwear. If you need some new shoes, whether you’re looking for something specific or don’t know what you want, take a trip to Mr R Sports at 408 Lincoln Road. Check below for some pictures I took inside the shop. (more…)

Nike Air Flight One "Orlando"

Nike Air Flight One "Orlando"

To kick off NBA All-Star Weekend, Nike Sportswear has a few sneakers releasing, all inspired in part by NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Orlando. First, there is the trio of “Galaxy” Dunk Highs, all with 3M eyestays, waxed canvas uppers, removable logos, and glow-in-the-dark soles for good measure. In addition, Penny fans will get treated to two Air Flight One colorways: the original “Orlando” version and a new-age “Galaxy” version equipped with a removable front logo and glow-in-the-dark accents all around. Whether you are after the Dunk Highs or the Flight Ones, it would probably be useful to know that both sets are being released tomorrow, Feburary 23rd, at select Nike Sportswear accounts. If you are planning on lining up, get ready, because looking at what else is coming out in the coming days, you might just be there for the long haul. (Pictures via Extra Butter and Nike Inc.)
