Certainly the Olympic spirit has already come out in sneaker releases, from Ray Allen and Vin Baker’s Air Jordan VI, to Charles Barkley’s Air Force 180. Even the new Nike Basketball models’ Olympic colorways are getting good reception. However, this celebration of past Olympiads would not be complete without the sneaker of the “go-to” guy on the 1992 Dream Team. That’s why Jordan Brand is getting ready to bring out the “Olympic” Air Jordan VII Retro. Check the video out for an in-depth look at the new iteration of this Jordan classic, as well as some cool facts about the sneaker, and be sure to get to your local Jordan Brand retailer on Saturday, July 21 to get your pair.

Air Jordan VII Retro "Olympic"

Under normal circumstances, re-releases of the “Olympic” and “Raptors” Air Jordan VII would be huge events. However, with such a great amount of Air Jordan Retros releasing already, the two VII Retros are more like the icing on the cake. Nonetheless, both colorways will drop during the summer. The “Olympic” Air Jordan VII Retro will be released just two weeks after its Air Jordan VI counterpart on Saturday, July 21, while the “Raptors” Air Jordan VII Retro will drop in time for the new school season on Saturday, September 1. Looks like Jordan Brand is pretty confident that their USA Jordan Brand basketball players will take home the Olympic gold this summer. And why should they not be? The 2012 USA Mens’ Basketball pool is arguably the most talented it has been ever. What better way for them to celebrate than to release new shoes? Right, none. That’s why Jordan Brand is releasing the Gold Medal Pack. This pack comes with a white leather and gold-accented Air Jordan VI Retro and a black leather and suede Air Jordan VII Retro with similar gold accents. And the release date? Far enough for you to start saving if needed: Saturday, August 18th. Check below for individual looks at each shoe, and stay tuned here for any new developments on the Gold Medal Pack.  (more…)

Over the past few days, pictures of some upcoming Air Jordan Retros have leaked. Through these leaks, some observations can be made about the new Retro versions of these colorways. The “Fire Red” Air Jordan IV Retro is looking true to original form, thanks to the lack of a Mars Blackmon logo. However, the other two might bring some disappointment to Jordan purists’ hearts. For one, the “Raptors” Air Jordan VII Retro looks a lot more like the lighter DMP version that released three years ago than the darker, streamlined 2002 version. Also, the “Olympic” Air Jordan VI Retro has a changed-up midsole, with more Midnight Navy than white. Thankfully for the sneakerhead community at large, these attribute changes are not too drastic, but rather, just minor things to set apart past Retros from today’s Retros. Air Jordan Retro Fall 2012 Releases

Air Jordan Retro Fall 2012 Releases

Air Jordan Retro Fall 2012 Releases

Pre-story note: We are sorry for the week-long hiatus. The work load for this school year has been immense, and has squandered our ability to make posts on a constant basis.

2012 just keeps getting better and better for Jordan fans. Recently, Jordan Brand released its Fall 2012 lookbook to retailers nationwide, in which they have revealed a plethora of notables for the summer months. In July, look out for Retro releases of the two best “Olympic” shoes out of the Jordan legacy – the “Olympic” Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan VII. August will continue the Olympic flair with a special Air Jordan VI Retro/Air Jordan VII Retro pack. Each sneaker in the pack has an gold medal-themed colorway, as seen above. Finally, September marks the bring back of the “Raptors” Air Jordan VII in Retro form. In addition to all of the Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan VI releases, some Air Jordan IV rumors are swirling around. A “23rd Anniversary” colorway of the Air Jordan IV is set to release sometime over the Fall 2012 fashion calendar months, but there is confusion as to whether this sneaker is the same as another Air Jordan IV in a White/Varsity Red-Black colorway that is also planned to be released in the Fall 2012 season. Once the rumors break down into facts, we’ll let you know the concrete low-down. For now, I would say that this is pretty good news nonetheless. (Picture via Sneaker News)

Air Jordan VI Retro “Olympic” & Air Jordan VII Retro “Raptors” to Return in 2012

As if Jordan Brand was not unleashing enough Retro heat next year. Previously, sources have uncovered that various Air Jordan IV Retros, Air Jordan X Retros, Air Jordan XII Retros, and even an Air Jordan XIV Retro are dropping in 2012. Well, you can now add two more Jordan Retros to that list: an Air Jordan VI Retro and an Air Jordan VII Retro. In celebration of the 2000 Olympics, Jordan Brand released a white, navy, and red Air Jordan VI Retro. To commemorate the 2012 Olympics, Jordan Brand will bring back the widely-loved “Olympic” Air Jordan VI Retro for those who didn’t have the opportunity to catch them twelve years ago. The other Retro is one that has released recently, but in a pack: the Air Jordan VII Retro that many have become accustomed to calling the “Raptors” colorway. In 2009, Jordan Brand celebrated two of Michael Jordan’s highest-scoring games with a Defining Moments Package that included two Air Jordan VII Retros: the “Raptors” version and a “Magic” version. However, the “Raptors” Air Jordan VII Retro in the pack was made to be more similar to the team’s colors with the use of Team Red in place of the original version’s True Red. In 2012, this Air Jordan VII will make a return, but in the original colorway: Black/Dark Charcoal-True Red. Will this have much of a difference on the actual look of the shoe? We’ll just have to wait and see. (Picture via Kixclusive)
