Nike Air Force 1 "Year of the Dragon II"

A bit earlier than expected, right? There has been some confusion with the release of Nike’s second commemoratory Air Force 1 for the Year of the Dragon. Some retailers will drop the red-scaled and gold-dressed sneaker on Saturday, June 23. On the other hand, a number of retailers are planning to release the “Year of the Dragon II” Air Force 1 tomorrow, June 22. Make sure you find out in advance what your local Nike Sportswear retailer is doing for this release, because otherwise, you might miss out on a beauty of an Air Force 1. (Picture via Concepts)

Nike Air Force 1 "Year of the Dragon II"

Earlier in 2012, Nike dropped a black Air Force 1 that paid tribute to the Chinese Year of the Dragon. The sneaker had laser images of dragons on the upper and a dragon on the tongue tag. While this Air Force 1 was nice, it seems that Nike had something even better up their sleeve the whole time: another, much more festive Air Force 1. 2012 is specifically the Year of the Water Dragon, and this shows on the new Year of the Dragon Air Force 1. Light blue combines with bright red scales and a metallic gold swoosh to make a very noticeable upper. Perhaps the trademark feature of this Air Force 1, however, is the multicolored knitted tongue, which represents the culture surrounding the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. There’s no telling yet where exactly you will be able to pick up the “Year of the Dragon II” Air Force 1, but make sure to keep its release date, Saturday, June 23, open for anything.
